Yordano Ventura’s toxicology report could affect $20M owed on his contract, report says

What happens to the nearly $20 million that remained on Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura’s contract at the time of his death likely will hinge on toxicology reports, Fox Sports reported, citing unidentified MLB sources.

Bucs general manager Jason Licht told ESPN recently that the team planned to bring in competition for Aguayo.

He’s a rookie, 21 years old. He had to learn that he’s not doing this for fun anymore, Licht said. He’s got a lot of people depending on him. We’ll continue to get competition and look for the best competition for him, or he might be the competition for somebody else. We’ll see how that goes. He was young. He’s working very hard to get better.

In Folk, the Bucs get a proven veteran and former Pro Bowl kicker. The 32-year-old Folk, who was released by the Jets on Feb. 23 after seven seasons, has a career field-goal completion rate of 81.3 percent in 10 seasons.

Among the people who came to their assistance: four Twins minor leaguers whose vehicle also got caught up in the wreck.

Quade’s SUV was stopped at a traffic signal when it was rammed from behind by another vehicle traveling about 45-50 mph, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune reported Sunday. His girlfriend, Rebecca Kraus, was a passenger in Quade’s vehicle.

We can’t believe we’re not dead, Quade told the Star Tribune.
